The Department of History hires graduate students as Readers for large (50+ students) undergraduate lecture courses that do not have Teaching Assistants. Readerships are hourly positions. Readers earn $22.50/hour and track and report their hours to Workday (the UW payroll system). Maximum hours per course are determined by the course enrollment. The History Department accepts readership applications for the academic year in August and considers applications until positions are filled. The call for applications (which includes a list of classes that are eligible for Readers) will be posted to the gradhist e-list. Department of History graduate students will be given top priority for Reader positions, but other students may also apply.
