Syllabus Description (from Canvas):
This course uses an American political development approach to the study of labor movements in the United States. We go beyond considerations of historical relationships to production and into deeper understandings of the normative implications of the various labor movements; contextual understandings of the battles to protect workers; and the intersection of struggles between race and recognition in labor. Our goal is to develop a nuanced and robust body of knowledge conceptualizing how historical labor movements coalesce into the contemporary landscape of work.
