We recently caught up with PhD student Jess Cavalari, who is on a five-month research trip to Seville in southern Spain. In January of this year, Professor Aditya Ramesh joined the faculty of the Department of History as a historian of South Asia and environmental history. He came to us from the University of Manchester in England where he had spent the last three years teaching as a presidential fellow in environmental history. The Department of History is delighted to announce this year’s scholarship and prize recipients. Thanks to our dedicated and generous alumni and friends, we were able to award an impressive $440,000 to 41 undergraduate and 4 graduate students in recognition of their academic excellence and service. It is with deep sadness that the Department of History announces the passing of professor emeritus George Behlmer, who died on January 4, 2024.
