Aliyah Adelita Siva is a second-year PhD student in the History program at the University of Washington. She aims to become a professor of Sāmoan history, teaching at the university level, and to advance a permanent Pacific History curriculum at 4-year institutions. Her specific passion for this kind of work stems from her mixed heritage, a blend of Sāmoan and Mexican roots. Her research interests center on unsettling colonial narratives about Sāmoan people and on revitalizing Sāmoan voices and reactions to colonialism that have yet to be heard.
