When career planning website Zippia took a look at career and performance data from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and ED.gov’s College Scorecards to rank the top five colleges for history majors in Washington state, they put the University of Washington’s Seattle History Department at the top. Other top programs in the state included Gonzaga University, the University of Washington at Tacoma, Seattle University, and Washington State University.
The University of Washington History Department's record of alumni career success and positive student experience put the undergraduate program at the top. Zippia examined criteria in employment, career earnings, relative number and frequency of history graduates, and other matters of school performance to create an “History Quality Index” and determined rank based on the resulting score.
Zippia concluded, “It's hard to argue with a selective school that features History and produces strong earning potential for your career.”
