I am coming to Seattle and the University of Washington from Kansas City, where I worked as the Academic Advisor for the School of Pharmacy at the University of Missouri - Kansas City (UMKC) for the last 2.5 years. While I was raised in Kansas, I have lived in a few different places for work, school, and family (Mississippi, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, Massachusetts, and now Washington). Before Kansas City, I worked in multiple academic positions in Boston, including teaching courses in Sociology.
In terms of my own educational journey, I earned a BA in English from Grinnell College in 2006. My Concentration in Gender/Women's Studies while at Grinnell College motivated me to earn my MA in Sociology at Western Michigan University so that I could further explore issues related to gender and sexuality. Most recently, I finished a second MA (in Higher Education Administration with a focus on Student Affairs Administration) this May 2018 from UMKC.
